The Marble Stationery Collection
Want to take a trip to Electric Beach? Our new psychedelic stationery collection of marble prints is a swirling mash-up of bright colours and fluid shapes with a current of coastal grooves flowing through them. (So we had a little fun with the names.) Created by Papier’s in-house team, our designers used traditional paper marbling techniques from around the world to produce the unique and mesmerising patterns. The final notebooks, notecards and planners are sure to shake up your desk.
The Making Of
“The process involves dropping gouache ink into a tray of water mixed with carrageenan, an extract from red & purple seaweed. With a stick you can manipulate the inks floating on the water into zig zags and swirls. You place a sheet of paper on the surface of the water, then carefully take it out to reveal the amazing colours and patterns.” – Jodie, designer
"Its experimental process allows you to be as free as you like when creating. We love how organic it is – you never know how it’s going to turn out. The final results left us with a wide variety of patterns to choose from. It was very hard narrowing it down to the best!” – Jodie, designer
The Notebooks
"I’m so drawn to the happy hues of my Spinning Parasol notebook that I have found myself sketching more. Any excuse to pick it up!" – Sarahlee, designer
The Notecards
"My dream destination to send one of the marble notecards from would be somewhere super cool and colourful. Miami! Or the Salvation Mountain in the California Desert." – Jodie, designer
The Planners
"There is no quick way to marble a page, so you can sense the time and care spent on a piece from the layers, colour and texture of the end result." – Sarahlee, designer
